Hangin' In There

Pete's still at home and hangin' in there. He continues to sleep a lot, but has had some alert periods the last few days, hanging out, looking at photos, drinking limeade and hot cocoa, eating Jello, and even watching football. Last night, we lit a fire and all watched the first half of the Packers game bed-side together. Here's a photo from Pete's perspective:

Brenna, Ryan, John and other family have been taking turns at the house hanging out with Pete, running errands, going for walks with Jane, cooking, cleaning, etc. And a couple relatives and neighbors have dropped off delicious meals, which we so appreciate. Things seem stable for now, so we are just enjoying each other's company and trying to keep Pete comfortable.

Thanks again for all the support!

  9. I have been brought to tears as I caught myself up on these blog entries. Words can't begin to describe how tangible the love is that is generated by your family's ability to come together and work as a team to make this tragic situation as comfortable and painless as possible for everyone involved, especially Pete. The Holzhauer's have always been a shining beacon in my life as a model of love and happiness that I strive to reach in my own life, and even during the darkest days, that beacon shines just as bright. I am truly blessed to bare witness to such greatness and I will always do my very best to follow the examples your family continues to set.

I love you all so very much, and I wish you continued strength and courage in the days, months, and years to come. Thank you for keeping us all up to date as you continue this present journey.

    With Love,

    Jared

  12. Dear, Dear Holzhauers. The outpouring of emotion from so many friends and family reflects how much you mean to us all. We all admire how you live your lives: to the fullest. Pete showed us how to do it. You and he set an example for us to admire and strive to emulate. You are on our minds, and you are in our hearts. We won't be with you Monday, but we'll be thinking about you, and look forward to seeing you again. Jean & Mitch Leavitt
